Our LAST Day on the Christmas JOY Blog Hop & "Mystery" BOM 11 Reveal!

Welcome everyone to a {BIG} day here on the Basin Blog!
Not only will we be sharing our complimentary Christmas JOY design here on the blog, but we will also be revealing our 11th block in our "Mystery" BOM!  If you are not following along on that... you are welcome to join us!  We have been having a great time!!!  It is complimentary and kits are available to purchase each month!  And... we are also offering a limited number of kits available to purchase on our website of our darling "Snowman Sock" hop design as well as offering a great "Holiday Special" just for fun!!!  We want to do our best to make sure your Holiday Season will be {merry & bright}!!!!!

What a delightful hop this has been!!!  As I mentioned before, we've had a fantastic array of designs featuring snowmen, mittens, trees to trucks... We've had some talented designers stitch, hook & appliqué their designs just for you!  I don't know of any other blog hop that has such kind designers who gather together to give you a great variety of designs, tidbits & recipes like ours!  I'm thankful to know them, appreciate their talents and want to give them ALL a HUGE "thank you" for making this hop possible!  You guys rock!!!!

Before we start rocking around the Christmas tree.... I'd love to share my design for the hop with you!  Since I am a Minnesotan, and we have no snow {yet}... I couldn't resist making something with a snowman on it!  Here is my little Snowman Sock for you all to enjoy!  He whips up quick and easy!  If you'd like to order a kit, hop over to the website and click shop online!

Here is the link to "click and print" both designs shown on today's post!!!  It is also on my homepage of my website!
http://siterepository.s3.amazonaws.com/2457/block_11_and_candy_cane.pdf

Snowman Sock Instructions:
1.  Using your favorite wool appliqué method, cut out each wool piece as shown in picture.
2.  Make sure you cut out a front and back sock.  {You will need to reverse one sock unless you don't care which side of the wool you use}.
3.  Position wool pieces on top of sock.  {Set back sock aside}.
4. Use coordinating floss to blanket stitch around each piece securing them in place.  You will need to stitch carefully around the scarf piece that goes off the sock, as it will be a single layer.
5.  Use 2 strands of green floss to stitch greenery on hat and 4 strands of red floss to make 3 French knots for berries.
6.  Put front and back of sock together and blanket stitch around entire sock using coordinating floss where you change wool pieces.  Example: Gold for the toe of sock.
7.  Sew 2 tiny black buttons on for eyes and 3 1/4 inch buttons down front of snowman.
8.  Attach a cord to hang ornament.  Enjoy!!!!

Up next is the 11th block of our super exciting monthly "Mystery" BOM!!!  As you can see, I have decided to do 12 blocks!  Just couldn't stop!  We're having wayyyy too much fun, right!!!  So here is block 11!  Kits are also available for that online as well!!  Hope you like it!  It's my FAV block so far!
It's so festive for this time of year!!!!

To go along with the Christmas theme... I want to share with you my favorite poinsettia mat that I made!  It's been around for a few Christmas'!  But I just love it!  It comes in a pattern of {3} called 3 Holiday patterns in One!  Instead of $12 it will be $6.00!  Here is the link to click and order it!

Today was a super busy day at the Basin!  It was also a perfect day to work late!  It was chilly and rained all day!  It's so different then yesterday!  Yesterday I did a photo shoot with the girls for our Chrisrnas cards!  It was sunny & gorgeous out!  It made for great photos!  I'm happy to say our Christmas card is designed and being printed!  So excited!  Can you believe Christmas is just about a month away?  I can hear those sleigh bells jingling now!!!!

Up today is Lisa, from Primitive Gatherings!  I know she's had a lot on her plate, including getting ready for her shop's Holiday open house... so I'm excited she was able to make time to be a part of the hop!  We all appreciate it!!!   Be sure to check out her recipe, too!  I think it sounds amazing!  Anything with PB, Rice Krispies and chocolate has to be yummy!  I can't wait to make this!

Let's keep the hop rolling and head over to Lisa's blog for another day of Holiday fun on my annual Christmas blog hop!  Enjoy!  See you tomorrow for our final day of the hop!!!!

Today on the hop brings a new friend of mine.... Who will it be?!?

Who would think that {Day 10} on the blog hop would bring a snowflake kite!  Don't you just love it!  Of course... Only Meg would think of that!!!  Too cute!  Here's the stitchery pattern she shared, so make sure you go to her site and get the pattern!  It's sooo cute... you can keep it out all winter long!!!

Up today on our lovely Christmas JOY blog hop is a long time friend of mine, Joan, from Bits and Pieces by Joan!  She's a California girl who loves working in wool!  She's not a blogger or facebooker {yet}... but she does great designs and offers them through her website!  So make sure you go there to get another great pattern for the Holidays!!!

***Edited at 2pm 11/16.  Sorry there is no project up on the site as of yet.  I'm assuming Joan will get something up at some point today.  Thanks for your emails/concerns!

When we were at market Joan made fresh peanut brittle!  It was delicious!  She also made it with cashews!  Not sure if this is the recipe she uses, but I thought I would share it with you!  My mom also made this growing up!  I remember her making many batches of it and my dad and I would deliver it, along with other Holiday goodies to family & friends during the Holiday Season!  So fun!  See you again tomorrow!!!!

It's Meg's day today on the hop!!

Happy Sunday!  Its hard to believe we only have 4 days left of the hop!  Time sure flies when you are having fun!  Speaking of fun... did you enjoy Pam, from Heartspun Quilts little Santa!?!  I sure did!  It sounds like she likes to whip stitch instead of blanket stitching!  The great part... either one works very well... so do what you prefer!  And how about that stuffed mushroom recipe?  I'm betting a lot of you will be trying out that recipe!!!!

Today was a very busy day!  The majority of the day included getting a new furnace and air conditioner in!  We upgraded and are already feeling the difference!  So excited to "be warm" as winter could be here any day!  Then this afternoon we drove down for Gracie's dance comp.  it was their first one of the year!  Always a great time!

Now back to the hop!  Up on this lovely Sunday for {Day 10} of the hop is Meg, from Crabapple Hill!  She's our stitcher girl!  I'm predicting "winter flurries & happy snowmen" to warm your heart!  If you're new to Meg's work... she has established an amazing technique that combines coloring & stitching!  It's so awesome!  So be sure to click the link and go enjoy a day of stitching & hot cocoa!!!  Enjoy!

Here is another fantastic appetizer recipe from Meg!  We sure are getting a great array of recipes!  So exciting!  See you back here tomorrow as the hop continues....

Who is up today, {Day 9} of our Christmas JOY blog hop?

Welcome back to our celebration of Christmas JOY!  It was so great to see Kathy's "joyous" project!  I don't know about you, but I give a lot of gift cards away during the Holiday Season!  I think this was a great idea!  How perfect would this be to give to your woodie friends or sewing pal?  Plus, they could use it as an ornament and tuck in a little letter from Santa!!!  How cute would that be hanging on your tree!  That's what's so fun... we all love to inspire!!!!  Please make sure to stop back at Kathy, from the Cottage at Cardiff Farms if you missed this!

Today I snuck out after I picked up Hannah from school with my friend Laura.  We went to a boutique and then to a gift store.  It was so fun!  I picked up a few handmade items to give as gifts, 2 boxes of vintage Christmas ornaments & 5 vintage Christmas corsages {can't leave any of those behind!}!!!  Then at the gift store I purchased a few more gifts!  I'm so excited to be starting early this year!!!  I know it's not "that" early... But typically I start after Thanksgiving and then I feel so rushed!  I've already got my style down of wrapping/embellishing so I'm ready to start wrapping!!! Lol!  Tis the season!!!!!

Up today on {Day 9} of our Christnas JOY blog hop is Pam, from Heartspun Quilts!  Since I've seen a little sneak peek... I will tell you it could be a design of a jolly old fellow!  He may even wear a red suit and give toys to good girls & boys!!!!  I'm thinking you've got a good idea of what it could be...  so head over to her blog and see if you're correct!!!

Christmas JOY Blog Hop is in full swing!

Oh my gosh!  One of my favorite parts about the blog hop is reading the posts that the designers write while posting their project!  Jeni's story was just priceless!  The poor tree & boys... thinking the tree fell down the river!!!  I can just see it now!   I love how they call it the "Griswald Family Christmas Story!"  I'm betting it's a story none of them will ever forget!!!  Thanks Jeni for sharing that great Holiday memory with us all!

Here's Jeni's project!  It's super cute!  Make sure you print it off and add it to your collection!!!!

As I've been following along on our Christmas JOY hop... I've been wondering how many of you have been starting on some of these darling projects!  I was also thinking how neat it would be to have a little section {including a little tree} to dedicate to our Chrsimas blog hops that we've done the last few years!  If any of you have made some projects from this hop or previous hops and displayed them... Please share pictures of them to our Buttermilk Basin  Facebook page!  We'd love to see them!!!

Up today on {Day 8} is Kathy, from The Cottage at Cardiff Farms!  I'm glad she's a part of the hop again, as she's been quite busy!  She recently moved and is now closer to her daughter!  And... I'm so excited that she found the perfect home with a little cottage on it!  I'd love to have a little cottage on our property too!!!  You don't see many of them here in the Twin Cities!  I'll just have to keep it on my bucket list!  Have fun hopping over to her blog!

Oh!!!  How darling is this feather tree that Lori, from Notforgotten Farm designed for you all!  So simple.. yet soooo stunning!  And the oval frame is such a great added touch!  There is something about a feather tree that always excites me!!!  This hop truly is special!  Hope you're enjoying it... as we move along to {Day 7} of our Christmas JOY blog hop!

Up today is Jeni from Woolen Willow Designs!  I was lucky enough to be by them down in Houston!  Jeni and her sisters are so awesome!  I'm so thankful to be apart of their magazine, Primitive Quilts!  I'm also super excited for you all to get out there and buy Jeni's new book!  It's awesome!  I'm sure she'll have info on her blog!  Head on over and enjoy another marvelous day {where the weather is always perfect} here in blog land!

We're having a merry time on the Christmas JOY hop!!!

Welcome back to another day of our Christmas JOY Blog Hop!  Yesterday's design from Debbie was great!  It's going to be so cute hanging on your Christmas trees this year!

I hope as you start making all these darling projects you share them to our Facebook page!  We love seeing your work and love to inspire others!!!

I also have a passion for old trucks!  My dad was a farm boy & always drove a {Ford} truck!  My favorite was this old blue truck!  It was the inspiration for my truck patterns!  Those old trucks brought both of us much joy!!!  I also want to thank Vicki for this truck ornament she sent me!!!  It is personalized and I'll always treasure it and think of you when we hang it on our tree each year!!!  Isn't it sweet?!!!!  I just love it!!!

Up next on our hop is Sheri from Calico Moon!  You'll have to check out her recipe!  It's not your normal "green bean casserole"!  It's amazing!  She usually doubles the batch so she can have leftovers!  The leftovers are even better!!!  We must try this!!!  Be sure to head over to her Facebook page: Calico Moon and see your daily "surprise" design!  I'm just as excited as you are to see what she's got in store for us!!!

Thanks for following along!  Hope you're having a blast!!!!

It's time for {Day 3} of our Christmas JOY blog hop!

Tis the season for sweet little elves!  How cute was Gail Pan's redwork elf?!?  It's the perfect little stitchery to hang most anywhere and bring you much Christmas cheer!  I wonder what lies ahead for {Day 3} of the blog hop from Debbie of Wooden Spool Designs?!?

Christmas cheer was in full swing today with church bazaars, craft shows & more!  In Minnesota, this weekend is opening deer hunting... so it's the perfect weekend for the women to get out with their girlfriends and enjoy themselves while their husbands are away!!  For Hannah & I, it means lefsa!  Us Norwegians LOVE hot, fresh, off the griddle lefsa, with butter and sugar!  Nothing better!  So today we headed to the church where the girls went to preschool and enjoyed their annual bazaar!  First, we waited in a long line to get a few dozen homemade Christmas cookies {within 30 minutes they ran out of our FAV cookie- peanut butter balls!}...since we knew the bags of lefsa would soon be running out, we headed there next!

Meanwhile, I hopped in line for fresh lefsa!  I felt so bad for them... they kept blowing fuses!  So we waited with anticipation for about a 1/2 hour... {after moving 2 of the 3 griddles}... and we enjoyed our fresh lefsa!!!!  Such a treat!!!!  If you haven't tried lefsa... you should!  It's delicious!

Up today on the Christmas JOY blog hop is my friend Debbie from Wooden Spool Designs!  Like I mentioned yesterday, she's over in Australia with Gail!  Thanks to amazing technology, she's able to post her project from across!  It's so cool how we can be so far away.. yet only a text or post away!!!  So be sure to head over to her blog: http://woodenspooldesigns.blogspot.com and see what clever project she designed just for you in our hop!!!  Be sure to go back {two days} if your just joining us for the first two days you missed!  Then come back here tomorrow as we feature another designer!!!!  Happy Hopping!
